Not too long ago we were invited to document an event for the 614 Project, an organization established "to develop a support system for at risk youth, ages 12-18, that motivates and fosters positive decision making through career training, positive social events, and mentoring." What we expected was a few hours of our Saturday to be spent taking photos, what we walked away with, however, was a deep appreciation for the people working hard to encourage these kids that anything is possible.
For this particular event, teens, specifically boys aged 12-18 were introduced to field professionals in various trades and professions. It was exciting for us to watch them get excited. My favorite part of the day came when we put the cameras down and ate pizza with all the boys. Hearing individual stories, and seeing lives being changed for the positive made me proud to have the opportunity to document what they are doing over at the 614 Project. Thank you for having us.
